BRENDAN WALSH admitted that Glenswilly were ‘outsmarted’ by Four Masters on Sunday – and says the Glenmen need a ‘big response’ against Milford.
Glenswilly, unbackable favourites pre-match, were stunned as Four Masters left Foxhall with a 2-11 to 0-6 win over the three-times Dr Maguire winners.
“I’m a bit stuck for words,” Walsh told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub after the game.
“We didn’t see that coming. We knew they had a few dangerous players, but we just didn’t get out of the blocks. Credit to Four Masters, they outsmarted us.”
Oisin Crawford, just before half-time was denied a goal. The umpire had the green flag hoisted, but referee Enda McFeely overruled him and disallowed the effort.
Walsh said: “If we had got that goal, maybe, but Four Masters came out and kept the scoreboard ticking. It was one of those days when everything went wrong. We might have kicked on from the goal. Oisin was adamant that it was over the line. It wasn’t to be.”
