The building owner of the Donegal Animal Hospital has categorically dismissed claims that there are regulatory problems at the practice.
In a statement issued to Donegal Daily, Ciaran Roarty said the practice is, in fact, one of the best-staffed in the entire country.
British company, Independent Vetcare, bought the practice eight months ago but have suspended normal duties at the practice recently.
In a communication sent to staff it claimed it was temporarily closing the practice due to “recent difficulties” including a lack of vets to meet the requirements of the practice.
Mr Roarty, who bother Gerard runs the facility as clinical director, said this is simply NOT the case.
He dismissed such claims out of hand while saying it is always a challenge to recruit and retain staff.
Mr Roarty stated “As Certificate of Suitability holder, I can categorically confirm that there are no regulatory problems with Donegal Animal Hospital.
“All vets are in good standing with the Veterinary Council of Ireland and indeed as a reflection of the absence of any regulatory problem, Donegal Animal Hospital vets continue to provide TB testing service to farm clients.
“In relation to staffing issues, it is always a challenge and has been over the past 20 years, to recruit and retain veterinary staff in Donegal.
“I am delighted to say that there are 7 experienced vets and 12 excellent support staff presently available to work at the Animal Hospital, which makes it the best staffed veterinary practice in the county and indeed one of the best staffed in the country.”
