A community activist in Glenties has expressed concern over the current state of the Altar Bridge after it suffered damaged over the weekend.
It is understood that part of the sidewall on the bridge had been hit on Sunday night and as a result had fallen into the river.
Brian Carr, who recently ran in the local council elections in May, said two barriers had been put in place but the damage had left it in a dangerous situation.

He said: “Please if you are driving or walking around Altar please do so with caution, as all that is stopping you from going into what is a very swollen river is two plastic barriers put there by locals.
“This is a very serious health and safety situation.
“I have reported it to the council.”
