The Raphoe Boxing Club hosted their annual awards night in Friel’s Hotel, Raphoe on Saturday night.
Club officials were delighted that a bumper crowd turned out for this annual showpiece to acknowledge the achievement of all their boxers during the 2018-2019 season.
The Billy ‘Spider’ Kelly Memorial Shield for the boxer of the year went to the club’s five times national champion and European Junior bronze medalist, Leah Gallen.
Aaron McDaid received the Brendan Ryan Memorial Shield for the Senior Boxer of the year award and both Aaron and Liam McMonagle received the Ollie Keavney Memorial Shield for the Senior Boxer of the year award and both Aaron and Liam were part of the Donegal boxing team that had a famous ten bouts to two victory over the Boston Boxing Academy in Randolph, Boston in June.
Other awards went to Daire Feeney, the most improved junior boxer. Angus McLaughlin was the most improved junior boxer.
Conor Doherty was awarded the trophy for the coaches junior boxer of the year and Taylor Parke and Georgia Mae Doherty got the junior boxers of the year awards.
The officers of the Raphoe club would like to extend a sincere thanks to John Friel his management and friendly for their hospitality.
