Chandpur Indian Restaurant in Donegal Town welcomed a VIP guest this week when star singer Imelda May called in for dinner.
The Dublin rockabilly artist showed that she not only had great taste in music, but she has excellent taste in food too!
Imelda was happy to take a photo with Chandpur co-owner Rana Miah after her meal on Tuesday night. And Rana’s wife Susan said she missed the whole event as she was watching the Rose of Tralee and cheering on the Donegal Rose.
Chandpur Indian Restaurant is Donegal’s number one ranked restaurant on TripAdvisor and has proudly held the title for six years in a row.
The team enjoyed another exciting week of success following A Taste of Donegal Food Festival 2019.
Chef Farhad was awarded the Gerard M Molloy Memorial Trophy as the Best Newcomer of the year. Farhad had just moved to Donegal Town last September to work with his uncle Rana and said the recognition was a great honour.
Rana’s cousin Sultan, who also works in the restaurant, picked up a gold A Passion to Inspire Award on Friday. Farhad was also awarded a silver accolade.
“No other restaurant or Hotel in Donegal has entered the competition every year for 10 years like we have, it is very stressful, but we feel very important to for our wonderful Chefs to showcase their abilities and as this is our local competition it is very special to us,” Susan Miah said.
