DANNY O’DONNELL says Milford are capable of bouncing straight back from the disappointment of their relegation from Division 1 in the All-County League.
Shorn of the services of several key players this summer, relegation has been on the cards for the Moyle View side for some time now.
The likes of Tony McNamee, Ronan Docherty, Ryan McMahon and Kane Barrett have been unavailable to O’Donnell at key periods.
“There’s disappointment because when you set out at the start of the League, the one thing you don’t want is relegation,” O’Donnell told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub after Sunday’s defeat to Division 1 winners Kilcar.
“The boys have been in Division 1 for three seasons now. Last season was very good and we finished on 18 points and beat the teams that we had to. That didn’t happen this year.”
However, O’Donnell has backed Milford to hit back.
He said: “They never put the heads down and never gave up. We just didn’t win the games during the summer that we had to when the squad was weak. Had we our full squad, I’d be very confident that we’d have survived.
“The future for the club is right and if they have the hunger for it, they’ll bounce straight back.”
