The Building Intercultural Communities (BIC) Project is collaborating with the Filipino Association to host a Family Fun Day for all this weekend.
The event will take place on Saturday 24th August from 11am – 5pm in the Aura Letterkenny Complex, Sallaghagrane, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal.
BIC has invited all communities in Donegal to join the Fun Day with their families, friends and children.
The BIC Project, which is being run as a collaboration between Donegal Travellers Project and the Donegal Intercultural Platform, promotes the inclusion of Black and Minority Ethnic communities, including Travellers and Roma into the fabric of Donegal life through a number of programmes and supports.
The project is part of Donegal County Council’s €5.5m Local Authority Action Plan. This Action Plan is funded through the EU’s Peace IV Programme, which is managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUBP). Match funding has been provided by the Executive Office in Northern Ireland and the Department of Rural and Community Development in Ireland.
This Family Fun Day is a great opportunity to socialise and meet a diverse range of communities living in Donegal. Attending the Family Fun Day is free of charge. BIC invites all to come and go as they please.
The event will host a wide range of activities, games, competitions, prizes, entertainment, face painting, selection of different cuisines and much more.
Anyone who attends the Family Fun Day can receive support, information and education about BIC and the supports and services the project provides.
The aim of the Family Fun Day is to promote positive relationships, with the opportunity of providing information, practical support and opportunities for socialising with other communities.
The BIC Project will also host various talks, workshops, training and intercultural events throughout the year to develop positive relationships and the inclusion of and between Black Minority and Ethnic communities. This will be achieved through creating the conditions for respect where cultural diversity is celebrated and communities live, learn and socialise together without prejudice or hate.
The BIC Project team encourage those interested to attend their services and events, and all will be warmly welcomed.
