ILLIES GOLDEN Gloves boxer Carleigh Irving has been selected as part of a 32-strong Irish squad for the European Schoolboy/girl Championships.
Irving will travel with the Irish team to Tbilisi, Georgia for the Championships, which begin on August 4.
Irving recently won the Irish 46kgs Cadet title with a win over Angelina Duffy. Irving also made her debut in an Irish vest when she defeated Italian Lambo Mariagrazia in a schoolgirl international held at St Brigid’s BC in Edenderry.
Irving and her Irish team-mates will train at Clann Naofa in Dundalk as they prepare for Georgia.
Ireland has medaled at every edition of the Championships with 101 medals – 17 gold, 25 silver and 59 bronze – won by Irish boxers.
