Forty outstanding people and groups have been honoured for their voluntary work at the 9th annual ME4U awards.
The Donegal Volunteer Centre hosted a special celebration in the Mount Errigal hotel in Letterkenny last Thursday to celebrate the contributions of the people who dedicate their time to helping others. A wide variety of projects and groups were honoured this year, from radio stations to Community First Responders.
“The ME4U Awards are a wonderful opportunity to give back to the volunteers who give so much to their communities,” said Brian Carr, Chair of the DVC.
Awards were presented to 10 projects and 31 individuals on the night.
Donegal Volunteer Centre supports, volunteers and groups across Donegal to access and provide quality volunteering opportunities.
There are some 3,500 volunteers active with the Donegal VC network coupled with in excess of 200 live opportunities available to those who wish to volunteer.
John Curran of the DVC said: “The organisation awards recognise the ongoing impact these local groups have across Donegal, these projects and volunteers are stepping up to provide vital services to improve the quality of life of all within our communities.”

ME4U Project Award Winners:
- Donegal Town Community First Responders for their Cardiac Response Project
- The Mountcharles, Frosses Inver Community First Responders for their Cardiac Response Project
- Good and New Cancer Charity Shop for the Good and New Cancer Charity cancer care services
- Magh Ene Historical Society Bundoran for their museum audio visual display project
- ALONE Donegal for their Befriending project
Each of the following five ME4U Project Award winners received a €500 euro donation to support their ongoing work:
- Serenity House Learning Centre
- Bluestack Special Needs Foundation for the Saturday Club
- The Saoirse Foundation for the BUMBLEance Children’s National Ambulance Service
- Rosses Radio for their Community Radio Station
- The Hub Youth Centre in Glenties
