Donegal woman Grainne Gallanagh is set to be the first Irish model to feature in Miami Swim Week when she takes to the catwalk today.
The Buncrana woman is in sunny Florida for her last official role as Miss Universe Ireland.
Miami Swim Week is the world’s premier event for the swimwear fashion industry.
And Grainne’s big moment will be this Thursday evening when she appears on the runway for the Liliana Montoya Swim brand.
Ahead of the trip, Grainne told her Instagram followers: “I will be one of the first born and bred Irish models to ever walk in swim week. If you were to tell me last year that I would be walking in the biggest bikini show in the world I would have lolled.”
Grainne, aged 25, is the ninth Irish woman in history to make it to the final round of Miss Universe. She secured a place in the top 20 when she represented her country in Bangkok, Thailand last December.
Grainne has enjoyed major success in modelling since taking the Miss Universe Ireland crown and winning approximately €70,000 in prizes. She recently signed with London Modelling agency, BMA Models.
At the same time, Grainne has championed women’s issues and women’s empowerment through her public role and through her work as a nurse in London.
