Local animal rescue group, Animals in Need CLG, Donegal, has been selected by Mackle Petfoods as one of its charity partners for 2019-2020.
The Co Tyrone based owner of the Naturo, Brandy and Cat Club brands has launched its first official charity partnerships, worth a total of almost €12,500, with six animal welfare and rescue organisations across Ireland.
Limerick Feral Cats, Fairyglen in Roscommon, Cats Aid Dublin, North Dublin Cat Rescue and Lucys’ Trust in Co Antrim are also set to set to benefit from working with Mackle Petfoods.
Marketing Manager at Mackle Petfoods, Laura Rafferty said, “We know how much our customers love and care for their pets, however not every cat or dog is lucky enough to have a home where they are well looked after. In recognition of the invaluable work animal rescue charities carry out, much of which is done by volunteers, we have selected six charities with whom we will support over the next year through donations of food, improving awareness of their work and hopefully taking some of the fundraising pressure off them so they can focus on looking after and/or finding homes for the animals in their care.”
Gitte McMullan, Cattery Manager at Animals in Need CLG said, “With the regular Cat Club food donations from Mackle Petfoods, our volunteers can focus on the areas where we can really make a difference. In particular, we want to expand our feral cat colony feeding support program, where we supply food to neutered colonies.”
Ms McMullan added: “We work throughout County Donegal helping and rescuing abandoned, stray and unwanted animals. Our volunteers do weekly runs to the county pound to save unwanted dogs and we operate two helplines, one for cats enquiries and one for dogs enquiries where we offer advice and support to members of the public.
“Our partnership with Mackle Petfoods will also enable us to help more low-income families to feed their pets, which reduces the numbers of abandoned animals. We look forward to working with the team at Mackle Petfoods in the year ahead.”
