More people tuned in to watch Daniel and Majella O’Donnell’s Room to Improve TV special than the two All-Ireland Finals last year.
The Donegal-based property special was RTE’s fourth most-watched programme in 2018, beating the All-Ireland Hurling and Football finals in August and September.
Over 860,000 viewers tune in to see Daniel and Majella transform their Kincasslagh home with the help of Architect Dermot Bannon.
The comedic episode was one of the most talked about moments in Irish entertainment last year, as fans enjoyed seeing the couple bring the house down – and noticing how much Daniel liked toilets!
The RTE Annual Report was released today to reveal the station’s top shows of last year and the financial reports. More than 1,500,000 viewers tuned into The Late Late Toy Show, making it the biggest TV event of the year in Ireland. The cost of special events in 2018 included the Papal Visit, the Presidential Election and coverage of FIFA World Cup 2018 and amounted to €7.2 million.
