HE’S SUFFERED pain in four Ulster finals previously and Donegal midfielder Hugh McFadden doesn’t want to endure that familiar pain on Sunday.
McFadden was on the losing side in two Ulster Under-21 finals and also featured in Donegal’s losses in senior finals in 2015 and 2016.
“The ecstasy of the win is just a completely different world from the complete depression from the loss,” the Killybegs man told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“The fear of losing probably outweighs the motivation of the excitement of winning. Having lost two under-21s and two seniors, I don’t want to go around losing any more too soon.”
McFadden tasted defeat to an on-song Cavan U21s and is wary of the challenge that the Breffni will pose in Clones.
He said: “They have a lot of boys who won a lot. They won four under-21 championships and beat our squads in two of those.
“They have a lot of very good footballers. They’ve showed good grit, resilience and determination. We’ll need to be at our best to compete with them.”
