A new art exhibition is set to launch in Dunree Fort later this month with artist John Black invited to showcase his work by Artlink.

Black’s latest solo exhibition “Leading the Blind” was inspired following the artist researched how a blind and visually impaired group came together through knitting, which helped them support each other as a community.

Black, based in Derry City, focuses on work that explores the power dynamic within society’s class and labour.

In his latest collection of photographic work, Black re-tells the story of a group of Gwynn Institute blind workers from Derry launched one of the first-recorded industrial disputes of its kind.

Speaking ahead of the event Black said his latest project was an exploration into how humans visualise the invisible.

The exhibition launched yesterday, June 8 and concludes on June 30 from Monday to Friday (10:30am-4:30pm) and  Saturday and Sunday (12:30pm-4:30pm).
