DONEGAL LADIES goalkeeper Aoife McColgan had a perfect return from her kick-outs in this afternoon’s win over Tyrone.
Tyrone asked big questions of Donegal at times, but the Tir Chonaill ladies – the defending Ulster champions – held on over the closing stages.
“A win’s a win,” McColgan told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“We knew that it wouldn’t be easy and wouldn’t be a classic. It’s just about getting over the line.”
A goal by Niamh McGirr, Tyrone’s second three-pointer, got the O’Neill county right back into it – but it wasn’t enough to knock Donegal off their stride.
McColgan said: “We knew that we couldn’t lay down and they got back into it. Their second goal gave them a kick but the girls did well and held the ball well.
“There is always a wee thing when people get that close, but once we got away for another score, I knew that we’d hold on.
