There were fantastic scenes at Fanad Lighthouse yesterday when over 20 fast cars turned up for an impressive display.
There was a spectacular gathering of supercars, classic and vintage cars at the iconic tourist spot yesterday evening, with such prestigious names as Lamborghini, Corvette, Mustang and MacLaren on display.
A total of 23 cars lined up around the lighthouse’s helipad, cheered on by the great crowd who turned out despite the bad weather.
The cars came as part of Driven Club’s Donegal Run for the north’s Bank Holiday weekend.
They came from all over the country – from Belfast, Dublin, Louth, Strabane and Lifford. 80 cars will gather today (Sunday) from 12-4pm for a charity event at Joe Soap’s carwash at Applegreen, Lifford in aid of the Sean O’ Hare unit, Stranorlar.
“The atmosphere was electric” said Rosie Nic Cionnaith, marketing officer at Fanad Lighthouse.
“We never expected to get all the cars onto the helipad but we managed it and it was a fantastic sight.”
Strabane man Keith “Bear” Gamble was behind bringing the cars to Fanad Lighthouse.
“Keith was out a couple of months ago with a 1958 Chevy Apache pick-up truck and we got some beautiful photos then against the backdrop of our iconic lighthouse,” said Rosie.
“He knew the club would love to come out here so we set it up for this weekend, in advance of their charity car show. We wish them every success with it. The cars are absolutely stunning.”
