There was some delight for a Letterkenny-based family in the South Dublin local elections today.
Independent Councillor Guss O’Connell retained his seat in the five-seater Palmerstown-Fonthill electoral area of South Dublin.
O’Connell is the father of Alan O’Connell, who is well-known for his involvement in ladies GAA.
Alan O’Connell has managed St Eunan’s senior ladies and has also worked with Donegal ladies teams.
His father, Guss, is a former Mayor of South Dublin.
