Kilcar carved out a narrow win over Cloughaneely this evening to preserve their good start to 2019.
Cloughaneely 0-10 Kilcar 0-12
Cloughnaeely stayed on the tails of the Towney men for long spells of the second half, but Kilcar had enough experience.
With a little under 20 minutes left, Cloughaneely were level at 0-8 apiece, with Sean McGarvey – who contributed six points in all – mastering the comeback.
Stephen McBrearty and Aodhán McGinley gave Kilcar the driving seat again.
McGarvey hit a pair of late points for the home side but, crucially, Ciaran McGinley and Mark McHugh ensured that Kilcar came away unscathed.
Matthew McClean’s double helped Kilcar to lead 0-6 to 0-3 at the changeover, with Ryan O’Donnell and another by McClean stretching that margin early in the second half.
Cloughaneely hit back, but it was Kilcar who crept through to win.
