Patrick Gildea Hairdressing designer Rachel Ferguson has been crowned Ulster Hairdresser Of The Year 2019.
The creative Letterkenny-based hairdresser took home the trophy from The Irish Hairdressers Federation Championships in Dublin on Sunday.
The crème de la crème of hair styling gathered to compete for the IHF titles in Croke Park. Hundreds of stylists and trainee stylists took part in putting on a display of incredible craftsmanship at the event, which is dubbed the ‘Oscars of Irish Hairdressing’.
Rachel represented Patrick Gildea Hairdressing Letterkenny in the Senior Ladies Trend Cut Full Fashion category. Her edgy look led her to win Irish Hairdressers Federation Ulster Hairdresser of the Year 2019.
Commenting on Rachel’s success, Patrick said: “I am so proud of our talented stylist Rachel who worked so hard over the past few months preparing her model, she really deserves this recognition.
“The talent on display this year was sensational and I am honoured that Rachel represented our team to such a high standard.
“Our team WhatsApp group hasn’t stopped for days, we are all elated at Rachel’s success. I’m excited at what the future holds for Rachel and her journey has only just begun.”
Rachel said: “Hearing my name being called was an unbelievable feeling, I can’t explain how happy I am with being chosen as Ulster Hairdresser of the Year; the level of hairdressing on display was outstanding and I am so proud that I was part of it. Thanks to Patrick and Elaine for all their support in the run-up to the competition and to my amazing model Kimberly.”
