Students from Crana College in Buncrana are celebrating great achievements in recent English and Science competitions.
Students in first and second year collected awards in the Read DL Creative Writing Competition.
Max McKinney also picked up an award for the six-word story competition. In the 1920s, Ernest Hemingway challenged his colleagues to create a story using only six words. The Irish Independent invites weekly entries from writers all across the country. Max entered the competition and won.
The teachers at Crana College said they are very proud of Max: “We are immensely proud of Max’s success and he looks forward to receiving a bundle of books from O’Brien press. Max’s story ‘The thief sprinted in the night’ appeared in April’s paper. We wish him continued literary success. Well done to Max and his teacher Ms Rosaleen O’Donnell.”
Crana College also picked up six awards at SciFest this year which is a programme that consists of a series of one-day Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) fairs for second-level students.
The awards they won were The Discover Space Award, Chemistry Award, Environmental Award, Physics Award and also School and Teacher awards.
