Calls have been made on the Donegal County Council to ensure that a footpath from Meadow Hill in Raphoe is made safer for residents in the area.
Parts of the current pavement are in a state of disrepair and councillor Gerry Crawford has now called for the safety of pedestrians to be put first.
The Donegal councillor said the current situation was causing pedestrians to ‘step off blindly onto the busy road’.
He said: “The council needs to take the necessary steps to enable the footpath from Meadow Hill into the town be made safe at the point, where those who use this path, step off blindly onto the busy road.
“Safety must be improved.”
