Top Spanish travel and lifestyle journalists visited Donegal and the Wild Atlantic Way over the weekend as part of a trip designed to grow tourism numbers to Ireland.
The journalists’ action-packed programme included visits to Slieve League and Fanad Head Lighthouse. The group enjoyed lunch at Nancy’s Seafood Bar in Ardara, as well as dinner at Quay West Restaurant. The group stayed at Dillons Hotel in Letterkenny.
Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland provided the trip for the journalists, who represent a leading daily newspaper, popular lifestyle magazine, a radio station and travel blogs.
Barbara Wood, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Spain, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite these influential Spanish journalists to visit Donegal and the Wild Atlantic Way, to experience for themselves some of the many great things to see and do here. Their articles, broadcasts and posts will be seen and shared by their readers and listeners around Spain – inspiring them to come and sample the Wild Atlantic Way for themselves.”
Ireland welcomed around 443,000 Spanish arrivals in 2018.
Barbara Wood continued: “Tourism Ireland is undertaking an extensive programme of promotional activity throughout 2019, to continue to grow Spanish tourism numbers to the island of Ireland. Journalists’ visits like this are an invaluable part of our overall promotional programme, helping to get positive exposure for the Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland through the media in Spain.”
