Kevin Gallagher hopes that today’s junior final win at Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta will help his young Downings side.
“It’s a mediocre competition, but it’s a trophy at the end of the day,” Gallagher told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“We have a young squad and it’ll get them on the right direction. We have a good mix there.
“We have a young side with five or six minors. We were down three or four bodies and we knew Gaoth Dobhair would put it up to us.”
In December, Downings clubman Paddy ‘Fenny’ McBride passed away – and the Man of the Match award, won by Connor, was dedicated to his memory.
Gallagher said: “Paddy was a legend in Downings and it’s nice to win this for him. He was a Gaeltacht man through and through.
“Paddy will never be replaced. It’s nice to kick on and win the Cup.”
