The musical and dramatic talents of Crana College students were well-recognised at the Derry Feis – where they won a string of awards.

The school picked up six prizes at the North West’s largest celebration of Irish musical culture last week.

The TY Class were winners of the post-primary Group Drama with their original play ‘Addicted to Gaming’.

The Crana College Dance Drama group was awarded The Feis Cup for their piece titled ‘The Legend of Cu Chulainn’.

The talented Choral Verse group achieved the highest mark of the feis and were awarded The Marian Fleming Cup.

And on the final night of the Feis Crana College were awarded three Special Competition Awards.:

  • The James Duffy Cup for the highest mark in a Group Drama.
  • The Detta Toland Trophy for the best performance in Dance Drama.
  • The prestigious Bishop’s Shield Overall Award for the highest points achieved by any school over the feis.

Commenting on the success, Mr Philip McGuinness said: “A special mention to our Music and Drama teacher Ms. Laura Keogh got all her hard work and dedication. Crana College is extremely proud of you all.”
