Further calls have been made for urgent works be carried out by Irish Water in east Donegal as the water shortage problem worsens around the county.
The calls come after a water main burst for the sixth time in two weeks in an area around Ballindrait.
Cllr Gary Doherty has made the demand after the east Donegal area was left without running water.
He said: “I have been in contact with Irish Water this morning to demand that they immediately carry out emergency works to install new mains coming up the hill from Ballindrait towards Tober and Ballinabreen.
“It is absolutely scandalous that the people living in this area are without water now for the sixth time inside two weeks.
“Residents in this area have been blighted by repeated bursts over the last number of years, however, the problem has ridiculous levels following the installation of the new mains at the bottom of the hill.
“The new mains has meant increased pressure in the old pipe going up the hill and is causing it to burst repeatedly.
“The time for excuses on Irish Water’s lack of action is long gone,” Doherty added.
“They have a duty of responsibility for the delivery of water service in this country and the people of this area deserve better than what they are getting at the moment.
“In that regard, I am appealing for residents who are affected to call Irish Water on 1890 278 278 to register their anger today and join with me in demanding that emergency works are carried out as soon as possible.
“Enough is enough.”
