An Garda Síochána has unveiled a new batch of luxury SUVs for operations across the country.
The BMW X5s, which have off-road capabilities, have been assigned to Dublin Metropolitan, Eastern, Southern and Northern Garda Regions, which includes Donegal.
Some of the vehicles are assigned to Special Tactics & Operations Command (STOC) in the greater Dublin area and will be available to support services and spontaneous incidents in regional areas.
The BMW X5 was recently named best luxury SUV by Consumer Reports and is one of the best-sellers in its class.
The new batch has been introduced to the force in addition to new vehicles allocated to the Roads Policing Unit. A new 191 Hyundai fleet was added earlier this month for MIT checkpoints nationwide.
