Donal Coyle launched his campaign for the local council elections in front of a large crowd in the Clanree Hotel Letterkenny last Sunday.
Donal, a recently retired school Principal of 32 years, is joined on the Fianna Fáil ticket for Letterkenny this May with sitting councillor Ciaran Brogan and Manus Kelly.
Donal has been a political activist for many years and has a strong community and sporting background. He is well known for being Chairman of Bonagee United FC and as a member of the Boards of many local organisations. Donal has nine children and fifteen grandchildren and is very much a family man.
Donal was joined at the launch by guest speaker Dara Calleary, TD Deputy Leader of Fianna Fáil and Director of Elections for local elections, Peter J Patton, Donal’s Director of Elections, Charlie Mc Conalogue TD, Pat the Cope Gallagher TD, Brendan Smyth TD and European election candidate, Ann Rabbitte TD and European election candidate , Cllr Ciaran Brogan and Manus Kelly.
Also in the audience were Senator Diarmuid Wilson and Councillors Liam Blaney, Paul Canning, Rena Donaghey, Patrick Mc Gowan and Gerry Crawford.
Guest speaker Dara Calleary TD said: “Donal Coyle has spent his life shaping futures and lives through his teaching career and working with the youth. He is of exceptional calibre and dedicated to serve the community”.
Donal said that he has been overwhelmed and humbled by the support he has received to date and thanked his director and campaign team for all their hard work so far and asked them to continue this until election day on 24th May.
