Glenswilly have suffered a hammer blow for the 2019 season with Gary McFadden set to miss the entire campaign.
The Glenswilly captain has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
McFadden sustained the injury last week and will be on the sideline for a length spell.
McFadden captained Glenswilly to Championship glory in 2013 and 2016 and was on the Donegal panel during the All-Ireland-winning 2012 season.
“I never like losing a game, but this time last week we had a bigger loss with our team captain Gary McFadden,” Glenswilly selector Brendan Walsh told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub after Glenswilly’s Division One loss to Kilcar yesterday.
“He was captain for two of our Championship wins. He mightn’t say a lot, but he leads by example. He will be a massive, massive loss.”
