Buncrana Tidy Towns have extended a big go raibh míle mhaith agaibh to everyone who turned out for Saturday’s Big Inishowen Clean Up.
This year’s clean-up was supported by the Amazing Grace festival, Buncrana’s Cli-mates and Buncrana GAA.
Speaking after the clean-up Buncrana Chairperson Paddy McLaughlin said, “We are over the moon at the large turnout for this year’s clean-up and as a result we were able to cover the main road from Burnfoot into Buncrana. Dozens of bags of litter was collected.
“Whilst the volume of waste collected is a cause of concern we are enormously grateful to the volunteers for cleaning up this important stretch of road into the town. We ask drivers to think before they chuck fizzy drinks and water bottles, disposable coffee cups, and cigarette packs out their car windows.”
Mr McLaughlin continued: “There are so many of us who work hard to make the town attractive for the community and visitors alike. All our hard work can be undone if the roads into the town are strewn with litter. Buncrana Tidy Towns will hold another clean up on Saturday 27 April as part of An Taisce’s national spring clean. All details will be posted on our Facebook page.”
