A Donegal farmer is set to have a very entertaining appearance on First Dates Ireland this week – as he reveals his drag queen alter ego.
Martin McGuinness, aged 51, will be turning on his northern charms on the RTE dating series airing this Thursday at 9.30pm.
When not looking after his farm in Ardara, Martin performs as a cabaret artist called Scarlet Rose.
And the theatrical singer is a big advocate of the vibrant drag scene.
Speaking to his date, Cork fashion fan Alan (45), Martin says: “Every man should be put in heels and the whole outfit.”
Martin first got involved in the drag scene after visiting the lavish Madame JoJo piano bar in London over thirty years ago in 1986. His fabulous alter ego has performed in Turkey and Egypt, as well as all the London hot spots.
While originally from Belfast, he has lived in rural Donegal since the 80s.
TV fans may recognise Scarlet Rose from her famous audition last year on Ireland’s Got Talent on Virgin Media One. She was put through to the semi-finals after a shocking mishap with judge Jason Byrne.
