After the longest wake he’s ever been at, Fergus Cleary is looking forward to the final performance of his hit show next week.
But the Convoy man is not viewing the end of ‘The Island Wake’ as a grave situation, because there’s a feelgood factor to this performance which will be in aid of two local charities.
The No Barriers Foundation and the Simon Community have been announced as the organisations to benefit from all the proceeds of the play on April 4th at An Grianan Theatre Letterkenny.
Fergus Cleary wrote the Island Wake in 2016 and has staged over 20 performances throughout the North West over the last two years. So far, he and the cast have raised over €30,000 for charities around the county.
Fergus said: “The cast and I are delighted to put on this final performance on behalf of these two very worthy charities.
“We hope that people will come to the show to help raise funds to support the great work being done by both organisations.”
The No Barriers Foundation is a not for profit organisation based in Letterkenny Co. Donegal. Their aim is to create an inclusive health facility equipped with specialist neurological equipment allowing Anyone with a disability to train and improve their current level of physical and mental health.
The Northwest Simon Community is also a not for profit organisation working with those at risk of homelessness in counties Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo.
Fergus continued, “This will be the last showing of the Island Wake. We have been staging the play for over two years now and I think it’s time to wind it up”.
Fergus said that this has been the longest Wake he’s ever been at, adding: “The cast have been a real pleasure to work with but I think it’s time I gave them a break. I appreciate the hard work and commitment they have shown over the last few years”.
Fergus and the cast will stage the final performance of the Island Wake at An Grianán Theatre on Thursday 4th April for one night only.
Tickets are €15 per seat and all proceeds will go to the No Barriers Foundation and the Northwest Simon Community.
Tickets are on sale at the box office in An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny. Tickets can be purchased online at www.angrianan.com or call (074) 912 0777 to book over the phone.
