Hugh McFadden says Donegal’s young guns can become the best in the country – if they keep working hard.
A 13-point win over Kildare yesterday has put Donegal back into Division 1 and this weekend Declan Bonner’s team face Meath in the Division 2 final.
Niall O’Donnell and Oisin Gallen led the way yesterday with a series of excellent scores, while Jason McGee has returned to the senior ranks to superb effect this year.
“All the players know the quality they possess,” McFadden told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“Jason, Oisin and Niall can be the best in the country if they apply themselves. They don’t have to wait two or three years. I don’t see why they can’t do it soon.”
On Gallen, who was named the Man of the Match yesterday, McFadden noted: “I’m lost for words at how seamlessly he’s come in. He’s so impressive and he’s only 18.”
Jamie Brennan’s goal on 46 minutes put the game beyond doubt.
McFadden said: “We were dominant. We were very good in the first half and made the most of the wind.
“We kicked some really impressive points. We played very well and scored the goal very well. I thought we controlled the game well.”
