Letterkenny Chiropractic Clinic is placing a focus on bone health during a special event on Saturday, March 30th 2019.
The leading clinic at Glencar Letterkenny is hosting an open day to share information on Osteoporosis and offer greatly reduced health checks.
For one day only, Letterkenny Chiropractic are offering spinal and postural checks as well as a DEXA scan to assess bone density for only €10.
Dr Aram Proudman, owner, said that these checks are open to everyone: “Have you wondered about the health of your bones? Do you know someone who suffers from osteopenia or osteoporosis? If you want to increase the functioning of your nervous system, improve your overall health, and strengthen your bones all in one simple action, then come on by to the Letterkenny Chiropractic Clinic. We would love to see you and help you reach your health goals.”
Dr Proudman continued: “At Letterkenny Chiropractic Clinic, our ultimate goal is to help you get back to doing the things you enjoy, not just alleviating symptoms.
“When your spine and nervous system are healthy, you are able to get back to doing the things you love and performing at your best.”
What is Osteoporosis?
Dr Proudman explains: “Osteoporosis is a bone disease that’s characterized by the loss of bone density. In other words, certain bones have decreased strength in comparison to other bones.
“Osteopenia is the precursor to osteoporosis; this is when bone strength has been lost but it’s not to the degree that calls for a label of osteoporosis.”
How does the decrease in bone density affect you?
Dr Proudman says: “When bones are less dense, they aren’t as strong as they should be, which means they are more easily fractured.
“In this case, regular activities of daily life such as walking, or a small trip up a curb, may actually cause a broken bone.”
How is Osteoporosis diagnosed?
Dr Proudman said: “The main diagnostic tool is called a dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA scan) and it estimates the density/strength of the bone and risk of fracture.
“The screening procedure is non-invasive, accurate and only takes 20 minutes. After the scan the results will be explained to you, as well as offering any advice, if needed.”
The Letterkenny Chiropractic Clinic open day on 30th March 2019 is a fantastic opportunity to have a bone density scan and spinal check at a very reasonable price.
