Maxi Curran says his Donegal ladies are adapting to their demanding surroundings well as they bounced back with a win over Westmeath yesterday.
After a chastening defeat in Cork a week earlier, Donegal hit back to defeat Westmeath 1-8 to 1-4 in Letterkenny.
“Tight matches are of more benefit to us,” Curran told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“We have a lot of young girls who weren’t used to such physically demanding games, but they’re coming out the right side of it now and they’ve two more big games to look forward to in the League.
“It wasn’t pretty but we knew it wasn’t going to be pretty. Their score-lines suggested that would be the case. The girls stuck at it and they played some really good football at times.”
Captain Karen Guthrie once again led the way for Donegal while Shannon McGroddy’s goal had Curran delighted.
He said: “The goal was massive. We knew O’Donnell Park is a wide pitch and we wanted to make use of the width. The goal was all the way from right to left. Shannon came off the shoulder and finished it really well.”
