An agreement has been reached between Letterkenny Insitute of Technology (LyIT) and its equivalent organisation in Beijing, China that will provide for cooperation between the Asian country and Ireland on a number of issues.
A ‘memorandum of understanding’ was signed by Paul Hannigan, President of LyIT, during a visit to Asia, which will pave the way for LyIT and Chengdu Neusoft University to develop closer ties.
The memorandum was signed after a high-level meeting between Mr. Hannigan, Minister for Education and skills Joe McHugh, Head of Education in Ireland Giles O’Neill, Ambassador of Ireland to China Eoin O’Leary and their counterparts at the Chengdu Neusoft University.
The agreement was reached as Mr McHugh represented the country at the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in China on Monday – turning the 13,171 mile-long Great Wall a bright shade of green.
