Hundreds expected at double funeral of tragic Convoy couple

Hundreds of people are expected to say a final sad farewell to a Convoy couple found dead in their home this week.

Patrick and Margaret Doherty will be laid to rest following their funeral mass at St Mary’s Church in Convoy at 2pm.

Pat, who was in his 80s, and wife Margaret, who was in her 70s, were found by Gardai at their home at Fountain Terrace on the outskirts of the town on Wednesday afternoon.

Gardai are still awaiting the results of post mortems into the elderly couple’s deaths.

However, it is thought they may have suffered separate falls and their deaths are being treated as a tragic accident.

Hundreds of people last night attended a mass for the couple at St Mary’s Church in Convoy after their remains were removed there to repose overnight.
