Donegal’s Blathnaid McLaughlin captained Ulster University, Jordanstown, to victory in the Gorumet Food Parlour Giles Cup final today.
The Moville clubwoman led her side to a 2-17 to 1-9 win over Waterford IT at Grangegorman.
Armagh star Aimee Mackin hit 2-11 for UU.
Last year’s Lynch Cup champions made the most of the strong wind in the first-half to build an insurmountable lead with Mackin’s first goal putting them 1-8 to 0-2 ahead.
Mackin’s second goal, a fisted effort from close range, had UU 2-11 to 0-3 in front at half-time.
McLaughlin took receipt of the silverware afterwards.
Elsewhere, there was no joy for Niamh Carr in the O’Connor Cup final as UCD lost 2-16 to 1-10 against University of Limerick. Fiona McHale and Hannah O’Donoghue netted the goals for UL as Carr and co came up short,
