Dundalk IT pounced late to deny LyIT in yesterday’s Moynihan Cup final at DIT.
Dundalk Institute of Technology 2-11 Letterkenny Institute of Technology 1-13
LyIT led 0-10 to 1-2 at the break, with Emma White’s goal keeping DkIT in the hunt at that stage.
Emma McMahon’s six points had LyIT firmly in command and the lead was stretched by Emer Gallagher early in the second half.
Stacey Grimes, the player of the match, landed three points in a row to start a comeback.
However, Nicole Gordon’s goal looked to have given LyIT sufficient breathing space.
DkIT had other ideas and White’s second goal left the minimum between them.
Aine Kennedy levelled things up and, in a dramatic finale, Rachael McConnell drilled over what proved to be the winner, leaving LyIT dejected.
