There has been a major shock at the Fianna Fail election convention in the Rosses area tonight.
Sitting county councillor Enda Bonner was left stunned when he was out-voted by local Fianna Fail activist, Noreen McGarvey.
Ms McGarvey, who works as an assistant to Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher, ousted the former Senator by 33 votes to 26.
There was a total poll of 61 votes with two spoiled votes among delegates.
There was shock at the Burtonport Community Centre when the vote was announced a short time ago.
Mr Bonner has been a county councillor in the area for a number of years and it was thought that he would once again be put forward to stand in the local elections for Fianna Fail.
Addressing the convention after the vote, a clearly surprised Mr Bonner said that he would be contacting Fianna Fail party headquarters on Monday about the vote.
