The most popular baby names in Donegal have been revealed, with one newcomer rising to the top of the girls’ list.
Conor and Grace were the most popular names for newborns in the county last year. Conor was also top of the list in 2017, while Grace has overtaken Amelia and Sophie as the new top girls’ name.
Grace was the top name in seven counties in 2018.
Nationally, the CSO revealed that Jack and Emily were the most popular name for babies in 2018. Jack has held the top spot since 2007 with the exception of 2016 when James was the most popular name. This is the eighth consecutive year that Emily has been the most popular name chosen for girls.
The top ten surnames of babies registered in 2018 were also released this week. Murphy, Kelly and Ryan were the main three surnames of the year.
