Gardai are investigating a disturbing incident during which a 77-year-old woman was robbed in Letterkenny.

The pensioner was approached by two men close to the Courtyard Shopping Centre around 7.30pm on Sunday evening last.

The thugs managed to grab the woman’s purse and ran towards the Pearse Road area of the town.

Thankfully the woman was unhurt but she was shaken by her ordeal.

Gardai say they believe the men are in the early 20s and could be from Western Europe.
