Ollie Horgan was delighted as Finn Harps battled to a clean sheet and a point against St Patrick’s Athletic last night.
Horgan has tipped the Saints to be ‘up there’ come the business end of the season.
Harps fought tooth-and-nail for a scoreless draw at Richmond Park, just three nights after holding Dundalk to a point in Ballybofey.
Harps have had a testing opening ten days in the Premier Division, but Horgan’s men have showed they’ll be no pushovers.
“We’re delighted with the clean sheet,” Horgan said.
“It’s a long time since we kept one of those in the Premier Division.
“It was backs to the wall, but maybe not as intense as it was on Friday. Pat’s had almost total possession in the last half-an-hour.
“A point away in Inchicore is a damned good point.”
Harps had their own moments with Sean Boyd, Sam Todd and Daniel O’Reilly all having chances for the Donegal side.
Horgan said: “We tired in the last 20 minutes, but we were brave and we defended well.
“It’s a point gained, no doubt. It’s two results and two points but God knows what we need to survive.
“If we had conceded early, it could have been a long night. It was similar to Friday night. We fought well and that’s the nature of them.”
Harps have a busy spell with home games on the next two Friday nights, against Sligo Rovers and Cork City, sandwiching a trip to Shamrock Rovers next Monday.
