The cross country season is now over and another hectic road season is about to start.
Most Letterkenny AC runners used this weekend for vital training runs. However, a small number did engage in a competitive activity.
The Milford AC 5K took place on Saturday morning. As with all races run under the auspices of Milford AC, it was a very well organised event.
The leading LAC runner was Dessie Shiels, whose time was 19.33.
This gave him a top 20 finish and 7th place in a very competitive M40 category. Elaine Martin was the 4th F40 finisher in 24.52.
The race winner was Finn Valley AC’s Colin McNulty in 16.59. Several LAC runners took part in Saturday’s Letterkenny Parkrun.
Paul Toner was the first LAC runner home, in a time of 19.36. Paul was 3rd overall and 1st in the M45 category. Liam Ferry was the leading M40 runner in 20.12. Peter Gallagher was the next M40 runner in 22.29.
Paul Lee, now just two short of the Phalf century mark for Letterkenny Parkruns, was the first M50 runner in 22.32.
Anthony Farren was the next M50 runner in 23.44. Third in the M50 category was another LAC runner, Cathal Roarty who clocked 24.32. This was Cathal’s 58th Letterkenny Parkrun.
The winner was Thomas O’Gorman in 18.31. Letterkenny AC’s annual and very popular St Patrick’s Day 5K will take place on Sunday, March 17th.
The race will start at 11.30am and the entry fee is €8. Entries will be taken at Aura Leisure Centre from 10.30am.
