A special concert in memory of Falcarragh mum Mary Ruddy was hailed as a huge success – even when the electricity went out!
The music and dancing didn’t stop when a power cut struck the memorial fundraiser at New Hall Falcarragh on Wednesday night.
The country music night was organised by Megan Ruddy in celebration of the life of her mother Mary, who passed away in May 2018 following a battle with cancer.
A host of top music stars turned out for the show in aid of Megan’s Warriors team in Relay for Life Donegal.
The final amount raised is yet to be confirmed, but it is estimated at a fantastic €5,000 so far.
Looking back on the night, Megan believes her late mother may have played a role in the night’s events!
Megan said: “There was a power cut that lasted 15mins but that didn’t stop us. We had singers sing in the dark doing a sing along with the crowd. I think mum was dancing that much up there she turned the power off on us for a while.”
Guests travelled from far and wide to be there for the event, which was a heart-warming success:
“It couldn’t have gone any better mammy was definitely loved and remembered by so many people,” Megan said.
Mary (née McGee) was a much-loved wife and mum who worked as a holistic therapist helping others in the locality. She was an inspiration to Megan and her family and will be remembered dearly in many ways, including the ‘Megan’s Warriors team’ in Relay for Life this summer.
