Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce has announced Conall Shiels as their first ever Grand Marshal for their St Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17th at 3pm.
This year’s theme for the festivities is ‘Letterkenny Together’ and Conall has been selected to lead the way in the town’s Main Street.
Shiels was born with hydrocephalus, a condition that causes excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to build up within the ventricles (fluid-containing cavities) of the brain.
Family, friends and work colleagues gathered in the Mount Errigal Hotel on Monday last to launch ‘High Five for Conall’ as it marks exactly five months to Conall Shiels’ fifth birthday on June 18.
Speaking as the news was announced, Conall’s father, Kieran Shiels said the family were delighted by the decision.
“On behalf on the Shiels family, we are very very proud that Conall was chosen to be the first ever Grand Marshal for the Letterkenny parade,” he said.
“Conall loves a party and he loves music, so he will be delighted to be marching down and heading up the Letterkenny parade this year.”
