The Sinn Féin convention to select the party’s candidates to contest the seven-seat Letterkenny Electoral Area of Donegal County Council will take place this Friday at 8pm in Dillon’s Hotel, Letterkenny.
The party have confirmed that sitting Cllrs Gerry McMonagle and Adrian Glackin have been nominated by their local cumainn to be the two Sinn Féin candidates in this election.
Speaking ahead of the convention, Cllr Adrian Glackin said he was delighted to have been nominated by his local cumann to stand in the Letterkenny Electoral Area for the forthcoming local council elections.
He said “I have been working with the people of Letterkenny and surrounding areas all of my adult life through 20 years in retail and in my role as a public representative this past two years.
“I have worked hard and achieved a lot since I came into this role and I really hope to be able to continue this work after the elections on May 24th”.
Cllr Gerry McMonagle said “It has been my privilege to serve the people of Letterkenny as a public representative for the last 15 years and I am honoured to have been nominated again by my local cumann.
“The challenge of electing two Sinn Féin councillors will be a tough one but we believe that we can do it and we are determined to meet as many local voters as possible to put before them our proud track record of hard work on their behalf and our party’s vision for the people of the Letterkenny Electoral Area and Donegal”.
