A man who stole a guitar from a busker has to face the music after appearing in court.
Kevin McGranaghan appeared at Letterkenny District Court in Co Donegal charged with stealing the guitar worth €175 from a female busker on August 10th last.
The court heard the woman had left down the guitar temporarily at the Courtyard Shopping Centre in Letterkenny but when she returned it was gone.
A search warrant resulted in the recovery of the guitar five months later in McGranaghan’s possession.
Judge Paul Kelly asked if the woman had been left out of pocket from not being able to play her guitar for five months?
He also asked if the accused actually played the guitar.
His solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher replied: “He does – but not for money.”
Judge Kelly adjourned the case against McGranaghan, aged 49, of Fortwell, Letterkenny, until May 20th for a probation report.
He also asked for a victim impact statement from the busker.
