Declan Bonner admitted that ‘individual, basic errors’ cost Donegal dearly in Thurles this afternoon.
Donegal led a four-point lead slip as Tipperary turned the tables in the final quarter.
Liam Kearms’ men outscored Donegal 2-5 to 0-3 in the second half to win 3-9 to 0-13.
The manner of the Tipp goals left Bonner something of a frustrated figure.
“We were the architects of our own downfall,” he told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“We made a lot of basic errors and we were punished with three terrible goals from our point of view. Listen, that’s football and we have to move on.
“We’ve got to take our chances and at this level we didn’t take them today. We conceded softly at the other end, and any day you concede three goals like that you are not going to win matches.”
