The head of the Garda Traffic Corps in Donegal has warned motorists to “expect the unexpected” as snow falls across the county.
With more snow forecast this evening, Gardai have warned people to take extra care when out driving.
Garda Inspector Michael Harrison told Donegal Daily “We would ask people to drive appropriately in the bad weather.
“That means driving at a reasonable speed and not taking any chances.
“They should take extra care in hazardous conditions and to expect the unexpected so they can react in enough time.”
There are no reports of any accidents due to the worsening conditions.
However, Met Eireann is warning of further icy conditions with more snow on the way.
A number of areas have reported heavy falls of snow already this afternoon including Quigley’s Point and Carndonagh.
People have also been asked to check on elderly neighbours during the current cold-snap.
