Minister for Education and Skills Joe McHugh had an action-packed day of lessons and fun recently at Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál.
The staff and pupils of the Letterkenny primary school were delighted to welcome the new Minister for Education for a visit on Friday last.
Minister McHugh got the chance to experience a wide variety of learning activities with many class groups. Pupils had an array of interesting projects to show the Minister, including computer coding, languages, music, sport, engineering and baking.

The Minister met with 6th Class Pupils in the School Library to discuss the Education system in Ireland and their hopes for the future. The Minister also answered some tough questions posed by the children!

The Minister was presented with a basket of produce from the school – Freshly baked bread and soup from cookery class and fresh eggs from chickens hatched in the school.
The children invited the Minister to join in with their Tea-Party as Gaeilge !!
The Minister was delighted with the Leitheoireacht Faoi Threoir (Guided Reading) in Ms Gibson’s Second Class.
Minister Mc Hugh joins a ‘Beebots’ Computer Coding class with Ms Gillespie’s Jr. Infants and Miss Bradley’s 5th Class.
Miss Bradley’s 5th class demonstrates Peer Tutoring in Sportshall Athletics with Senior Infants.
Two Enrolment Days will be held for Junior Infant Girls and Boys 2019 in Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál, Sentry Hill, Letterkenny on Thursday 31st January and Friday 1st February.
